COEUR d'ALENE - The heat is still on.

Thursday's high of 94 in Coeur d'Alene broke the previous record of 92 set in 1973, according to Cliff Harris, climatologist.

It marked the 34th day this summer above 90, making it the hottest summer since 2006 when there were 43 such days.

Today is expected to reach 92, Saturday 88 and Sunday 86 before a major cooldown, Harris said.

He said rain and temperatures in the 60s are expected for early next week.

Despite the hot summer, no day has reached the 100-degree mark this year, Harris said.
