ABORTION: Look at single mothers

| September 13, 2013 9:00 PM

I am pro-life but I am also anti-stupidity. Unus Vocate recently made a strong case for being pro-life, which I agreed with until he suggested redefining our three branches of government by having Congress validate Supreme Court decisions with a two-thirds majority. Congress?! Really, Unus?

Isn’t the real issue sexual promiscuity and not more regulations to limit abortions? And won’t women just travel farther to get an abortion like certain religions do when it comes to blood transfusions?

Americans may argue that our society is much more pro-life now. Evidently the explosion in numbers of single moms would suggest that, since all single moms are unintended pregnancies. Or are they?

Fifty years ago, single moms numbered less than 5 percent of all births. Now they are more than 50 percent.

In that same 50-year period, prison populations have exploded 700 percent. Connected? What else can it be?

Ninety percent of welfare goes to female head of households. (There is no “M” for men in WIC, which stands for women-infants-children.) Are we over-encouraging irresponsible behavior and validating sexual promiscuity (or more octomoms) by excessive handouts?

Like it or not, women voters outnumber men voters AND more women voted for Obama than didn’t.

Pragmatism maybe?
