COEUR d'ALENE - Beers will be flowing all over Kootenai County on Saturday, Sept. 14, with brewfests planned in Hayden, Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls.

The Hayden Chamber of Commerce is holding its second pub crawl fundraiser starting at noon at Daanen's Delicatessen.

"The Hayden Chamber likes to hold events that have a little bit of a fun element to them," said Erna Rhinehart, communications and marketing director for the chamber.

Participants pay $35 for five beer pours, a commemorative T-shirt and a pint glass. The group will start at Daanen's and walk between five locations throughout Hayden.

The other four locations include Sargent's, Rusty's, Mad Bomber Brewery and Doc Holiday's.

Tickets can be purchased by calling Rhinehart at (208) 699-0790, or Ken Huitt at (509) 863-8229. Last year's event sold out, Rhinehart said.

Down at the Beachouse in Coeur d'Alene, the North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation has the same idea.

The inaugural fundraising event, which is sponsored by Pilgrim's Market, is called "Ales for the Trail."

The brewfest will run from 1-7 p.m. in the parking area east of the Beachouse with live music and six microbreweries serving up beer.

"We have six of the best craft brewers in this area," said Denise Lundy. "We are hoping to have a real classy event."

They have tapped Slate Creek Brewery, Laughing Dog, No Li Brewhouse, Selkirk Abbey, Trickster Brewing Company and Kootenai River Brewing Company.

Lundy said The Coeur d'Alene Resort will be selling barbecue at the event and two live bands will be playing music. The bands include Strange Brew and Second Opinion.

"If you ride your bike down on the Centennial Trail you'll get a free raffle ticket," she said, adding the raffle prizes include golf packages, a kayak tour, beer and wine baskets, bike tune-ups and more.

"One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the North Idaho Centennial Trail Foundation," Lundy said.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.nictf.org for $24 in advance, but it will cost $30 at the door.

Tickets include five six-ounce pours of beer and a commemorative, stainless steel pint-sized mug.

In Post Falls, while not a fundraiser, the River City Brewfest will be held at Nate's New York Pizza from 2-8 p.m. Admission is $30 in advance, and $35 at the door.

There will be music, food and about 30 craft beers on tap.

"We are just trying to get something going again in Post Falls," said owner Glenn Gatherer. "We've lost all of our events. We lost River City Rod Run and now the Body by Scotty party, so we are going to try and get something going."
