Robert R. Holley, 73

It is with the heaviest of hearts to announce that on Aug. 26, 2013, Robert “Bob” Holley lost his 5-year-long courageous uphill battle with COPD.

Bob was born Oct. 10, 1939, in San Diego, to Raymond and Opal (McQuary) Holley.

Bob grew up in Hollydale, Calif., and moved to Stockton, Calif., in 1968. He met the love of his life Diane (Wood) and her daughter Terri (Johannaber) in May 1971. On Nov. 21, 1971, Bob and Diane were married in Carson City, Nev. The following September, their daughter Tammi was born making their family complete.

Bob worked 28 years for Sears Roebuck & Co. in Stockton, Calif. Starting as a delivery driver, he worked to become manager of the automotive center and at the time of his retirement, he was a salesman in the lawn and garden department. While at Sears, Bob met many lifelong friends, who became like family to the Holleys.

After retirement, Bob and Diane moved to Post Falls in 1993. Bob, one who was never able to stay still for long went to work for the Do-it-Center and then finally retiring while working at Badger Lumber Supply, both in Post Falls.

Up until he was no longer able to, Bob went every Saturday to Badger’s to have donuts and coffee with the gang. Bob had numerous hobbies including gardening, assembling World War II model airplanes and golf. But he especially enjoyed fishing with his wife and grandchildren.

Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 41 years, Diane, his daughter Tammi (Holley) Garrett-Penick (Mike), Spokane Valley, daughter Terri Granados (Jim Martindale), Richland Grandchildren, Holly and Allie Garrett, Harrison and Rebecca Granados and Hunter and Payton Penick. Brother Ed Holley (Juanita), Loyalton, Calif., mother-in law, Jearl Wood, Post Falls, brother-in-law Ron Wood (Sheila), Pinehurst and numerous beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces, nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Ray and Opal Holley, father-in-law Arthur Wood. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at English Chapel, in Post Falls.
