SPIRIT LAKE - Todd Clary wants to serve as Spirit Lake's mayor for four more years.

Clary, a cable TV technician, said he'll seek a second term during the Nov. 5 election.

Clary said he believes a lot of progress has been made in the town during his term as mayor. He wants to run again to see projects through.

Clary said he brings honesty and stability to the city.

During his service, the city moved into a new City Hall and remodeled the police department. The downtown was also revitalized, new parks were added and the 10th Avenue widening project from the north end of town to the south side is finishing up.

Clary, who has lived in Spirit Lake off and on his whole life, said he believes the police department has gotten more professional under his leadership and the recreation department has a wider variety of programs.

Among the projects Clary wants to see through is the addition of a new city park where the historic Fireside Lodge is on the lake. Design concepts for the park have been completed. A decision on the future of the lodge - whether to restore it, move it or tear it down - hasn't been made.

Clary, who describes himself as a fiscal conservative, previously served eight years on the city council and was also an urban renewal commissioner.

The filing period for city candidates runs through Sept. 6.
