MOSCOW - Wyatt Sadler had touchdown runs of 15, 55, 2 and 18 yards and threw for another score as the Mullan Tigers beat the Timberline Spartans of Weippe 60-34 in the nonleague opener for both Saturday at the Kibbie Dome.

"It was awesome," third-year Mullan coach Stetson Spooner said. "We started a little slow, but the way we picked it up, it was awesome."

Sadler finished the game 11 of 15 for 190 yards and also intercepted a pass for Mullan, which travels to Colton on Friday.

"Defensively, we need to do a better job at the line of scrimmage," Spooner said. "We chased everything down today, but had way too many 40-to-50 yard plays against us."

MOSCOW - Brandan Bowen scored on a four-yard run in the first quarter, but the Wampus Cats were unable to score again, losing to the Eagles in the nonleague opener for both schools on at the Kibbie Dome.

"It's tough losing a heartbreaker like that," Clark Fork coach Brian Arthun said. "We had three or four chances in the red zone that we didn't capitalize on. I was really happy with how we played and to give up 14 in the first game of the season was really good defensively. Jon Regalia and Wyatt Stephens both had a lot of tackles and some sacks and really played well."

Lewis County took the lead in the second quarter on a 13-yard touchdown run by quarterback Casey Beauchamp and added another score in the third quarter on a 55-yard pass to Ryan Heideman.

Clark Fork returns to action next Friday at Mullan.
