FANCONI: Thanks to our sponsors

Last Sunday, Aug. 18, we held our first Scott Lee Dorman Memorial 5K Fun Run. As I stated in my letter to this newspaper (printed Aug. 16) we are attempting to raise money for the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund (FARF) to help find a cure for this dreaded disease. Scott died on his 22nd birthday in 2010 as a result of cancer caused by Fanconi anemia. Doctors, researchers, scientists and clinicians are getting closer all the time but, as usual, money is always needed.

Although our event was less than successful - due to other events going on in the city - we would like to thank all of the supporters and sponsors that did take the time to help us: Arctic Kat Ice Cream and Snacks, U-Rent, Tim Trout, Tangles Salon, Super 1 Foods, DS Connections, Coldwater Creek, Bistro on Spruce, Albertson's Hayden, Select Euro Systems, Travis and Gina Price, Fedora Pub and Grille, Lake City Playhouse, North Idaho Eye Institute, A Spectacular Image Photography, Background Source International, Kellie Heath from Studio 3B Hair Design, Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center, Rick and Mary Thrasher and Pyramid Printing.

We are in the planning stages for next year's event. We will be advertising in advance to let everyone know when and where so you can make your plans to join us. This is such an important cause and we want everyone to know about Fanconi anemia. No one is exempt. For info: www.fanconi.org
