VOTE: Young families, speak up

My husband and I grew up in the Coeur d’Alene/Post Falls area. We traveled and lived back east for three years and then moved to Seattle. We had great adventures but it quickly became time to decide where we would put down roots and raise our family. We wanted to raise our children in the same great community that we had grown up in, so we packed up and moved back to Coeur d’Alene.

We knew we wanted to live in the downtown area and bought our first home near the courthouse. We had two children and decided it was time for a little more room. We purchased and restored a house built in 1918 still near downtown, and get excited as we watch other young families move to our neighborhood and do the same. We love being close to downtown and being able to walk to numerous family friendly events, enjoy the library, the numerous parks and beaches, Tubbs Hill and the great local businesses the downtown has to offer. We also can’t wait to enjoy the new McEuen Park and renovation.

I write this letter to encourage other young families to vote in our upcoming election. If we want to continue to enjoy all these great amenities, and a community that continues to grow and prosper, it’s important to have our voices heard. Let’s support those who wish to keep improving our great city and who make it an attractive place for many who want to raise their families here.
