The Jazz Age lives on in "The Boy Friend," a light, romantic spoof of 1920s musical comedy now playing at Coeur d'Alene High School.

Produced by the school's theater department, "The Boy Friend" is set in the French Riviera.

Polly, played by Brook Wolford, is an English heiress attending Mme. Dubonnet's Finishing School. She falls in love with Tony, a delivery boy, played by Dakota Osborne. Recalling her father's warning to beware of fortune-seekers, she poses as a working girl, unaware that Tony is in fact the missing son of the wealthy Lord Brockhurst, played by Kelton Pemp. Things get complicated with the unexpected arrival of Lady Brockhurst, played by Bobbi Pallotta, Lord Brockhurst and Polly's parents.

The show's many memorable roles include Shandon Parke as the flirtatious Mme. Dubonnett, and her boy-crazy students - Maisie (Dakota Goldman), Dulcie (Nicole St. Marie), Nancy (Izii Greene), Fay (Paige Erbele) and Polly. There is the hysterical maid, Hortense (Alyssa Tomblin), who has to deal with all the love-crazed French boys - Pierre (Tristan Puga), Marcel (Hunter Price), and Alphonse (Noah Murray) - lurking around the school.

"With its catchy tunes, period dances like the Charleston, and winning sense of humor, 'The Boy Friend' is a sparkling, tongue-in-cheek 1920s romp for the entire family," says a press release.

The show runs at 7 p.m. tonight, Saturday, Thursday and Nov. 1 and 2 in the Coeur d'Alene High School Fahringer Auditorium, 5530 N. Fourth St.

Tickets are $9/adults, $7/students and seniors and $6 for CHS students with ASB cards.

Tickets can be purchased at www.chstheater.org, or by phone, 769- 2999. They are also available at the door one hour before the show.
