HUNT: Critics running on empty

| October 23, 2013 9:32 PM

Jason Ball dropped the “ball” on his My Turn column!

While I have no problem with the Hayden Marathon, I do have a problem with Mr. Ball’s contention that “hunters would shoot the runners.”

First of all, hunting is a legal activity. “Shooting wild game along East Hayden Lake Road is poaching” is a false statement made by an uniformed person. As long as you do not shoot from the road, across the road, or at private property, it is legitimate.

Hunters do not shoot at runners or any other person. I guess Mr. Ball thinks that hunters are a bunch of bloodthirsty wierdos. Typical of out of state attitude if you ask me.

While I think the last statement about “hunters shouldn’t poach, and runners shouldn’t wear antlers” was said in jest, it just shows his contempt for hunting.

Have fun running the marathon! I hope a bull moose will not have a problem sharing the road with you! You may find out just how fast you can run if you do meet one. Moose are in the rut this time of year and they can get real dangerous!
