Fur trade event Wednesday

North Idaho College will host a free presentation "Fur Trade in our Region" from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Edminster Student Union Building Lake Coeur d'Alene Room.

Mark Weadick, a fur trade historian, will give the presentation. This event is part of the annual NIC Cardinal Connections Symposium, which connects campus and community through shared learning about issues relevant to today's world. The topic of this year's events is "Stories of the Gathering Place." The next presentation in the series, on Oct. 30, will feature Fran Bahr speaking on how "The Story Continues." Then on Nov. 19, Quanah Matheson will lead a discussion on "History of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe."

The presentations are open to the public.
