EVANS: For bright future in Cd'A

| October 11, 2013 10:23 PM

When I heard Amy Evans was running for a seat on Coeur d’Alene’s City Council, I couldn’t volunteer fast enough to help. Amy is passionate about Coeur d’Alene and exactly the person I want representing me as our city moves forward.

Coeur d’Alene has come so far in the last decade. We finally have an incredible community center — the Kroc Center — a recreational trail system, an improved Government Way that serves as a north/south arterial, a library other cities envy, an educational hub that streamlines traffic and provides higher education opportunities in our own backyard and so much more. Yes, I’m excited about McEuen Park and so impressed with the council’s total involvement of the community from the very start. I love the flower baskets downtown and public art that makes people stop and look and talk.

I don’t want people on our City Council who can’t recognize the wonderful gifts our past City Councils have given our community and try to create neighborhood jealousies. Amy has a positive outlook for all of Coeur d’Alene. She was honored for her dedication as an Ironman Coeur d’Alene volunteer leader. She led the campaign to save Sorensen Elementary and left no hard feelings in her wake. She helped raise more than $50,000 for cancer research in honor of a loved one, and she’s served on our city’s planning commission for six years. Amy is the best part of a younger generation heading into city leadership. We couldn’t be in better hands.

Please vote for Amy Evans as well as Steve Widmyer for mayor, and Kiki Miller and Woody McEvers for council seats to ensure our city’s bright future.
