Benefit concert to help local contractor pay medical bills

| October 9, 2013 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - The family and friends of Jim Cochran are holding a benefit concert, featuring Kelly Hughes, on Oct. 18 at Fedora Pub & Grille to raise money to help offset medical costs resulting from an accident he had at work.

The event starts at 6 p.m. and the $10 entry fee includes two drink tickets and a raffle ticket for a mountain bike.

Cochran has lived in the Cd'A area for most of his life, and has been a general contractor for more than 20 years. He is active with his church, and is always ready to lend a helping hand, family members said.

While on the job this summer Cochran accidentally shot a three-inch nail into his leg, through his femur. This caused an infection and the bone eventually broke.

After a 6-day hospital stay, a bout of pneumonia, a blood clot, and the beginnings of liver failure, Cochran is finally on the mend, but he will likely be out of work for nine months to a year.

Because he is self-employed, he is not eligible for workman's compensation or unemployment. Having no income for this length of time is very concerning because he is facing enormous medical bills, while at the same time trying to cover his typical household expenses.

His friends and family are seeking support and donations to help offset his expenses while he heals. It could be in the form of gift certificates for products or services available at your facility. Any amount is welcome.

Cash donations can also be made online at: https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/yg43/jimcochran

In return donors will be recognized with a prominently displayed placard on your item at the silent auction. for more information contact: rjammin@live.com or (509) 768-0347.
