Margie passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at her home in Coeur d’Alene, ID. Margie was on August 28, 1919 in Beach, North Dakota to Bertha Iwin Burt and Harry Burt. She had 2 brothers, Howard and Robert. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from West High School in 1937. She attended secretarial school and worked for Northrup, King and Co. She married William A. George on February 13, 1942. They settled in Osburn, ID, where his family owned and operated George’s Tea Room. They moved to Coeur d’Alene, ID in 1963. Margie loved to visit with friends over a cup of coffee at her kitchen table. She enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers. She loved the theatre and was a long time season ticket holder at the Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre with her dear friend Myrl Halliday. She loved animals and was a long time supporter of the Humane Society. Margie was able to live independently in her own home and fulfill her wish to not be in an institution when she passed away. Thank you to Hospice of North Idaho for assisting in keeping Margie comfortable at home. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Toni Kelm of Walla Walla, WA, granddaughters, Stephanie (Brian) Stachofsky of Lewiston, ID, and Tara (Adam) Kelm-Jones of Perry, FL. and 5 great-grandchildren, Paige and Megan Stachofsky and Hailey, Anna and Cory Kelm-Jones and her niece, Marjorie Burt in Ironton, MN. She is also survived by many dear friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Bertha and Harry Burt, her brothers Robert and Howard Burt, her husband Bill, and her beloved son Alan who passed away on September 10, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held Friday October 11, 2013 at 4PM at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N 4th Street, Coeur d’Alene. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hospice of North Idaho.
