ELECTION: Don't play blame game
It is always interesting to hear Jeff Ward’s assessment of local elections. He does a pretty crummy job of blaming the other side, the media and of course President Obama for his group’s losses.
He also says “their” candidates were not conservative enough and they need to speak up more about their convictions. Many of us have a different opinion of what is happening in Coeur d’Alene and around the country.
A majority of citizens have now had an opportunity to see how the RRs, Tea Party and affiliated groups will govern if elected. They will not govern. They will not compromise. They just say no. Look at Steve Adams on the City Council. “Take it down”— that’s it. Don’t worry, be happy as we dismantle government. Kill the Beast but do not offer an alternative. Stir the pot with the big negative spoon. Disparage good things that have happened in Coeur d’Alene. After all, people love to gripe so let’s feed that reality.
Not working anymore, Jeff.
The biggest mistake made by RRs and similar groups is the inclusion of religion in their political platforms. Religion does not belong in politics. Why? Because there are too many different takes on what is “true north” among especially the Christian religions. Which interpretation of Christianity do we choose for government, whether national or local? One person’s true north is another persons northeast or southwest.
Three cheers for Dan Gookin. Keep religion out of government or at a minimum make a sincere effort to treat ALL religions and NO religion equally.
