LETTER: Blame in the wrong direction
This is in response to the letter from Tracy Collins published in The Press on Nov. 10 entitled “A Lie is still A Lie.” The irony is that when Bush lied about WMDs in Iraq, thousands of people died. When what Obama said didn’t turn out as he hoped, the motive was to save American lives by providing health care to the millions of uninsured who are suffering without health care insurance, or for whom we all are paying exorbitant amounts for treatment in emergency rooms. If Mr. Collins was protesting when George W. Bush was lying through his teeth, fine. If he didn’t protest Bush’s lies then his letter has no credibility. I would also like to know what solutions he offers for providing health care for people who don’t have insurance?
It’s the employers and insurance companies who are reducing hours, laying off employees, canceling policies and raising prices on 5 percent of Americans, not Obama. If you’re angry, direct your anger at the real cause of the problem, the employers and Insurance corporations. Obamacare should have used the Canadian model or European models, not the Romney model that insisted on mandatory insurance, instead of a single payer plan. It was pressure from Republicans and insurance companies that resulted in the current Obamacare plan.
