Silverwood helps area food banks

| November 9, 2013 8:00 PM

Silverwood Theme Park's Community Appreciation Weekends held in September were part of a massive drive to raise funds to feed the hungry in Spokane and North Idaho.

Silverwood collected $21,684 that is being divided four ways and disbursed equally to the Post Falls Food Bank, Second Harvest in Spokane, Community Action Partnership in Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint Community Food Bank.

"This is such a wonderful gift to the communities," said Jean Koffinke from Second Harvest. "It will provide over 25,000 meals to those in need."

As an incentive for donating to the cause, Silverwood guests saved $18 when they purchased their admission online and Silverwood donated $4 per general admission ticket purchased to the area food banks.
