Bonners Ferry ousted by Homedale Xtreme U-16 sweep through pool play, enter tourney as No. 2 seed

HOMEDALE - Josh Tolmie ran for 141 yards and five touchdowns as the Homedale Trojans beat the Bonners Ferry Badgers 67-0 in a quarterfinal game in the state 3A playoffs on Saturday at Deward Bell Stadium.

Homedale (9-1) will host Fruitland (9-1) in the semifinals next Saturday. It is the Trojans first appearance in the semifinals since moving from the 2A classification.

Jack Rossi ran for 61 yards for Bonners Ferry, which finishes 5-5.

MODESTO, Calif. - The North Idaho Xtreme '97 under-16 softball team won three games in pool play Saturday to advance to single-elimination bracket play today in the USA Prep Nationals tournament.

The Xtreme beat the Tri-County Smash of Modesto, Calif., 8-0 in their tournament opener as Abby Howard went 2 for 3 with a triple and home run, Ana Raynor went 2 for 3 with a home run and Breana Burke threw a two-hitter for the Extreme.

Howard also went 2 for 3 with a home run in a 5-2 win against the Southern California Storm of Irvine.

The Extreme also beat the Iowa Blitz 5-2 in their final pool play game, and will be the No. 2 seed in the 22-team tournament and will play today at 11 a.m.

They will need four wins to get to the championship game.
