Richard K. Olin, 76

Richard K. Olin “Rich” 76 Hayden, ID died November 3, 2013 at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene.  He was born in Newport, WA to Richard and Inez (Noel) Olin.  He grew up in Blanchard, ID and Graduated from Newport High School.  He married Darlene Hegge in December 1958.  Rich was a life long resident of North Idaho with the exception of three years when he lived in Nevada.  While living in Nevada he became a brick mason which was his primary occupation.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years and traveling south where he enjoyed hiking.  Over the past fifteen years Rich had become an avid runner and ran many road races, his favorite being Bloomsday.  His brother Butch has climbed several mountains over the years including Mr. McKinley.  Rich always took an interest in his brother’s adventures and enjoyed hearing about his mountain climbing stories.

Survivors are his wife Darlene Hayden, ID, daughter Shelly Olin, grand daughters Whitney Wood, Christina Caan, her husband A.J. Caan and two great grandchildren Brooklyn and Beckham Caan- all of Coeur d’Alene, ID.  Brother Duane (Butch) and his wife Ila Olin of Sweet Home, Oregon.  He was preceded in death by his son Larry and his parents. Any donations can be made to Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene in his memory.  At his request there will be no services.
