Online voters miss mark - by a bunch

| November 6, 2013 5:57 AM

Readers of cdapress.com were challenged to see how their vote for mayor of Coeur d'Alene would stack up against official election results. Result? Not even close.

For the record, Steve Widmyer held a comfortable lead over Mary Souza and Joe Kunka until Sunday afternoon and evening, Nov. 3, when a cascade of online votes came in for Souza. Poll tampering? Maybe. Sources also told The Press that Souza received not-so-subtle support Sunday from one or more churches.

Regardless, here's how the online vote stacked up:

Joe Kunka, 39 votes (2 percent)

Mary Souza, 1,052 votes (51 percent)

Steve Widmyer, 963 votes (47 percent)
