This year's general election cycle, with some uncontested races and a few big showdowns scattered throughout Kootenai County, will end late Tuesday. Voters will select new mayors and city council members in two of North Idaho's largest cities: Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters must go to their designated polling places.

Unsure of where to go to vote? The county elections office offers a polling place locator tool on its website, www.kcgov.us/elections. Sample ballots can also be accessed on the county website.

Ballots may be cast by registered voters only. To be eligible to register to vote, an individual must be a United States citizen, at least 18, and a legal resident of Idaho and the county and city where voting for at least 30 days prior to the election.

Election day registration is available at polling places with proper photo identification and dated proof of residence.
