Accordion ensemble to perform classical concert

| November 1, 2013 9:00 PM

The Spokane Accordion Ensemble will perform a "Classical and Classics" concert Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 812 N. Fifth St., Coeur d'Alene.

A $10 donation is suggested at the door. Donations will fund ensemble expenses and scholarships.

Members of the nonprofit ensemble describe it as "a unique blend of players of all ages with a common love of music and the accordion."

The ensemble began in the 1950s as a group of accordion teachers and their advanced students.

"At the core of our group is the love of this instrument and we have lots of fun rehearsing and putting together a program," wrote the group's president, Eileen Webber, in a letter the group sent out to venues last summer. "And for most people who have never heard an accordion ensemble, they are amazed. It doesn't sound like a bunch of accordions; it sounds much like a symphony orchestra with many different sounds and parts."
