SCHOOLS: Elect these appointees

| May 17, 2013 9:45 PM

I am endorsing Brent Regan and Ann Seddon because I have served side-by-side with them, and have personally seen their unique contributions to the Coeur d’Alene School board. In only 300 words, I can’t begin to give you all, or even most of the reasons you should vote for them, but here are a few:

Brent Regan is flat brilliant. It is not just his intelligence, but his common sense, personal integrity, and adherence to our constitutional values that is so impressive. His contributions to our assessment of school security needs, which we used to help formulate our M & O levy, were invaluable. He has led our teacher union contract negotiations and has contributed so much in such a short time! It is remarkable to me that he is willing to serve in an unpaid position as a school board trustee, but I would urge you to keep Brent Regan in this position improving our schools as long as he is willing to do it. It is a win for our students, parents and taxpayers.

As a career educator, Ann Seddon lends a credibility and perspective that is invaluable to our District. Ann is all about the kids. She understands that serving as a Trustee is difficult and stressful but she has devoted her career to education, and she is committed to the continued improvement of District 271. Ann understands what is needed to be a successful educator and it has been her insight that has identified serious problems in our district. She has been instrumental in supporting the implementation of an action plan to solve these problems. Ann Seddon is committed to and expects excellence, and she demands integrity. It is imperative that we return Ann to the board as an elected member.
