Vandals adding video board

to Kibbie Dome east end

Idaho football fans will be treated to a state-of-the-art video board when the Vandals kick off the 2013 home schedule against Northern Illinois on Sept. 14.

The video portion of the new YESCO board will measure 30 by 50 feet, which provides 1,500 square feet of video imaging. With a 19-bit video processing capability, the board has the ability to produce 4.4 trillion colors with a 15 mm pixel display to provide the highest quality resolution.

Lead partners on the project are the Idaho Potato Commission, as well as Blue Cross of Idaho and Commercial Tire. The cost of the fixed board, its supporting softball and installation is $787,321, all of which is being funded through private monies.

Installation of the new video board on the east end wall and relocation of the existing video board to the west end begins June 10 and completed by the first week of August.

Former Idaho players

sign with NFL teams

Two former Idaho football players have signed with NFL teams.

T.J. Conley, an All-American punter for the Vandals from 2005-08, signed with the Cleveland Browns, while defensive end Benson Mayowa, who finished his eligibility last fall, signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

Conley signed with the New York Jets in 2009 and was the Jets' punter in 2011, averaging 42.7 yards on 92 punts during 16 games.

Mayowa, who had three sacks during the 2012 season, participated in a Seahawks mini-camp last weekend.

"He did a nice job," Seattle coach Pete Carroll told the Seattle Times. "He was a guy that really jumped out. He was rushing the passer and looked pretty fast on the edge."
