PAPPAS: Make it 2 sandwiches

| May 15, 2013 9:00 PM

I think Jimmy Pappas was right on the money about The Press setting the rules, guidelines could be more accurate, for the content of letters to the editor. There can be no reason to use language that the “haters” love to use regarding their favorite “topics.” Mike Patrick has kiboshed me as well, though I’m still working the facts on my White Utopia letter, Mike!

The problem with civility is that it’s just too bland for the haters. Personally, I think anyone yelling fire in a crowded theater should be rewarded with a broken nose, not a misdemeanor arrest. I do agree with Jimmy that having a political party “brand” attached to one’s person seems like having a scarlet letter stamped on your behind.

I have been a member of the Dem party, voting for John Kennedy my first time around. When my wife asked me why I was a Dem but always seem to vote for a Republican, I switched. However, I certainly don’t agree with the Rep “slate” every four years. I have never seen so many milquetoast people in my entire life when I see some of them doing interviews on their favorite talk shows. NO ONE says what they really mean because they seem so afraid of offending someone.

Nationally, the Republican Party has lost its way and its backbone. If they aren’t going to stick up for what they think then they should just sit in the corner and eat their cake and ice cream! I am in agreement further with Jimmy (Oh please help me!) that I would never vote to punish anyone for their sexual orientation or their right to enter into any civil or legal union. I mean, what difference does it make to anyone but the people involved? It’s not for me and I don’t agree with it, but it is their lives.

Oh no, again like Jimmy, I’m against abortion but for a different reason, unless it’s a danger to the mother, the child and in a case of rape or molestation, I don’t think it’s a choice matter for the mother because she isn’t making that decision just for herself, but she is also making it for her unborn child. Some reports say that there have been 55 million abortions in the last 40 years and THAT should be somewhat disturbing to everyone. A nation that allows its babies to die will have a tough time calling itself a godly nation.

I’m a guy and have never been faced with an unwanted pregnancy, so unlike Jimmy, I shall open my big fat mouth, and like Jimmy, trip on down to the Iron Horse and insert a tasty hot beef sandwich into it!
