Can our electronic lifestyle be painful?

We live amongst a digital society where most communication is completed through our smart phones, iPads and laptops, our books are read on nooks and kindles, and our physical activity comes from Wii Fit and Xbox connect. While these devices are a form of convenience and efficiency they may be a source of pain and injury, according to physical therapists from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

The good news is that there are simple and effective ways to keep your electronic devices more helpful than harmful.

• Make sure you take frequent breaks when using your devices.

• Keep your messages short and sweet by abbreviating when possible.

• Bring the device close to your body as you work on it, decreasing your reach.

• Limit your time spent on gaming units and other interactive devices.

As you encounter pain while using these practical devices, you need to remember this feeling is not normal, and pain is your body letting you know that something is wrong. Physical therapy can help you feel right again. At Pinnacle Physical Therapy, we can help you restore and improve mobility to return your body to normal motion.

We have a staff of highly trained physical therapists with a variety of specialties ranging from back and neck treatment, shoulder and knee treatment, pre and post operative therapy, pediatric physical therapy, and women's health. Our therapy team has gone above and beyond to obtain continuing education and specialization in a variety of areas.

Don't let pain interrupt your way of life!
