George W. Richmond, 93

George W. Richmond passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013. George, the only child of Lon and Lilah Richmond, was born in Stettler, Alberta Feb. 6, 1920.

At 7 or 8 years of age a Tom Mix Western movie inspired George to be a roper and a cowboy. By 12 years of age he was already training horses and at age 16 went to work for U. C. Cattle Co. in Eiko, Nev.

During World War II, he served in the army remount service in Fort Robinson, Neb. There he met Alberta Holmgren and they were married June 1st, 1946. They remained best friends and partners for 66 years, until her passing on February 24th, 2013.

In 1960 they moved to Hayden Lake and have been a part of the community and Hayden Friends Church for the past 52 years. George was a Life Member of the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association, and an inductee to the Pendleton Round Up Hail of Fame, the Montana Cowboy Wall of Fame, and the Idaho Cowboy Hall of Fame. Friends and family will remember him for his honesty, hard work, and wisdom.

George is survived by his children, JoAnne Nielsen (Tom), Lee Richmond (Jan), Jeannie Northfield, Dave Richmond (Lori). Ten grandchildren; Mike, Mary (Chris), Lynn (Ben), Toby (Kirsten), Brander, Elisabeth (Jason), Lacy (Tom), Tori, John and Matthew. Three Great grandchildren; Noah, Nathan, and MacKinzie.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Prairie Cowboy Church, 8311 N. Idaho Rd. Newman Lake, Wash., at the corner of Highway 53 and Idaho Road.
