HAZEL: For kids and taxpayers, too

| May 1, 2013 9:33 PM

I support Christa Hazel for Coeur d’Alene School Trustee Zone 1. She is qualified and has the experience necessary to represent parents and taxpayers on our school board.

Christa graduated from the University of Idaho with a law degree and was a member of law review. She also has real world experience with business management from overseeing contracts, insurance, payroll and budgeting for a local company that employed more than 75 people nationwide for Fortune 500 clients. Christa served four years on the Long Range Planning committee studying building and program needs in our district. She helped identify those schools that were a priority on the successful August bond based on safety and security needs. She has worked with the PTA and with the EXCEL Foundation to fund public school programs with private dollars. Christa knows how to light a fire and get things done.

Christa has always sought greater transparency in school district business. She believes that maintaining integrity with the public is imperative for our school board. Whether it is the sale of Person Field to possible private development or it is keeping promises to concerned parents, we need someone on this board who is willing to do what’s right as opposed to what is expedient for a personal agenda.

Christa has two children enrolled in our public schools. She has represented conservative viewpoints for years in our school district — always looking to strike a balance between what’s best for our students with fiscal responsibility for taxpayers.
