POST FALLS - Senior Amanda Frank scored from first base on a double by freshman Tayler Ekness with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday, lifting Post Falls past Lakeland 11-10 for the Trojans' first victory since the 2011 season.

Post Falls (1-4) had lost 30 straight games. Before Tuesday, the Trojans' last win came over Lakeland in 2011. Post Falls dropped its last three games of that season, went 0-23 last year and started out this year 0-4.

"They were so excited," Post Falls assistant coach Megan Piephoff said. "I think it felt like all the hard work they've put in in the last year-plus has paid off."

Ekness also hit a two-run homer in the second inning, and Katie McDermott had three hits for Post Falls, which plays host to Sandpoint on Thursday.

Bekah Kastning had three hits for Lakeland (4-2), which plays at Lake City today at 4.

Clark and Sydni Parker each hit two-run homers in the fifth for Coeur d'Alene (3-0).

"We just pounded the ball," Coeur d'Alene coach Larry Bieber said. "There was a little wind, but they would have been out anywhere."

Scholwinski struck out nine and pitched a one-hitter in the opener, the only Moscow hit a bloop single in the fourth.

In the second game, Kayla Albertson drove in three runs and also earned her first varsity pitching win.

"She (Krampert) pitched well and is still as tough as I remember her from last year," St. Maries coach Todd Bitterman said. We were loose in the dugout and expected good things to happen. I was proud of how they finished the game."

Trojans coach Dustin Frank was pleased with his three pitchers, Grayson Ludiker, Griffey Swift-Olsby and Nate Gomer, all of whom were called up from the freshman team to face Lakeland.
