Election races take shape

The filing deadline for candidates to get their names on the May 21 election ballot was 5 p.m. Friday.

Here are the hopefuls who filed their paperwork on time.

The two seats up for election on the Kootenai Hospital District board are being sought by four candidates. Liese Razzeto is the only incumbent. The challengers are Neil Nemec, M.D., Donna Montgomery and Jim Pierce.

Hospital district board members serve six-year terms.

There are three seats up for election on the Coeur d’Alene School District Board of Trustees, with challengers vying for each. Christa Hazel will go up against Brent Regan, the incumbent, in Trustee Zone 1. Incumbent Ann Seddon is being challenged by Dave Eubanks in Zone 4. Tom Hearn and Bjorn Handeen, both newcomers, will go up against one another for the Zone 5 trustee position.

There are two trustee positions up for grabs in the Lakeland School District. Neil Joseph Uhrig is challenging incumbent Brian Wallace for the Zone 4 seat. Larry Brown, the incumbent in Zone 5, will run unopposed.

There are three trustee positions up for election on the school board in Post Falls. Dave Paul and Glorie Ward, both newcomers, are vying for the Zone 1 Trustee seat. Donagene Turnbow, the incumbent in Zone 4, is running unopposed. In Zone 5, incumbent Julie Hunt is being challenged by Carol Goodman.

There are challengers hoping to win two seats up for election on the St. Maries School District Board of Trustees. Nancy Jean McAninch hopes to unseat incumbent Christine Ann Ashmead in Zone 1. Incumbent Sandy Sargent Kennelly is being challenged by Jody Ray Hendrickx in Zone 2.

Board members in the Bayview, Green Ferry, Kingston-Cataldo and North Kootenai water and sewer districts are running unopposed.

There are two board member positions up for election in the Alpine Meadows Water and Sewer District in Hayden. Mike Waldo, the incumbent, is running unopposed. Kim Van Erk is challenging incumbent Toni Sumerlin for the other seat.

There are no challengers for three seats on the board of the Consolidated Library District.
