John Scott Rape, 49

| March 4, 2013 1:46 PM

John Scott Rape, of Rathdrum, passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013. He was born June 29, 1963, in Sitka, Alaska.

John traveled the Northwest and Alaska extensively, working as a certified millwright/welder, though he always called Idaho his home. He was very skilled at his craft. He had many passions, but skiing was his favorite; beginning at age 5 and continuing for the rest of his life. He was an excellent cook and his nieces and nephews will miss his special breakfasts. He loved camping, gardening and was a history buff.

John will be missed by all who survive him — his parents; his sisters, Jodie Rape, Ann Wasserman, Shawna Banks, Kira Bird, Reyla Zumhofe, Tesa Gagliardi and Hilary Hamilton; and brothers, Chris Blake, Mark and Chuck Banks; as well as his many nephews, nieces, other family and friends. In addition, his constant four-footed companions, Allie, Joie, Sam and Zoey will be lost without him.

A celebration of life will be held for John at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Chapman residence, 3224 Meadowlark Drive (Country Club area) in Lewiston.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Rathdrum Counseling Center, 14954 Coeur d’Alene St., Rathdrum, ID 83858.
