Kootenai Health recognized for community value

COEUR d'ALENE - For the ninth year in a row, Kootenai Health was named a Top 100 Hospital in a survey ranking more than 3,000 hospitals nationwide on quality of care and value to their communities.

"The topic of health care value and financial stewardship is in the news more and more," said Kimberly Webb, Kootenai Health chief financial officer. "But this is a discussion Kootenai has been leading for many years."

Each year the Ohio-based group, Cleverley + Associates, evaluates hospitals and awards each a Community Value Index score. Each hospital is evaluated in four areas: financial viability and capital reinvestment, cost structures, patient charge structures and quality of performance.

"An award recognizing that we are a Top 100 Community Value hospital out of around 3,000 hospitals nationwide is a tribute to the board, management, employees and physicians who care about the value of the services we provide this community," said Jon Ness, CEO.

Kootenai Health is one of only two hospitals in the state to receive the award. Kootenai's score was ranked in the top 20 percent of surveyed hospitals, and of the 3,000 hospitals evaluated, Kootenai's score was in the top 100.
