SOFTBALL: Grateful for local support

I wanted our community to know how thankful I am to live in such a supportive town. I play fastpitch softball for CDA Crush 14U, and these wonderful eating establishments donated money to make this possible. A big shout out to Jimmy John's, Pizza Factory, Noodle Express, Texas Roadhouse, Del Taco and Top This for helping me play the game I love. I am grateful that our community is so supportive of youth sports. By the way, if you are looking to watch some great fastpitch softball, Crush is putting on a tournament this weekend (June 7, 8 and 9) at Ramsey Fields, Woodland Middle School and Finucane.

MOCK CRASH: A success because of your support

On behalf of the entire staff of Lakeland High School, I would like to take this opportunity to thank several local agencies and businesses that together sponsored and conducted the 2013 mock car crash for our senior class. This important event took place on Friday, May 31, and its impact on students is valuable on many levels. Witnessing a mock, fatal car crash as a result of drinking and driving will stay with our students for many years to come. We are appreciative that we were able to address this issue with our students prior to graduation and their moving forward into our community as adults.

Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the following event contributors: Idaho State Police, Kootenai County Substance Abuse Council, Kootenai County Sheriff's Department, Northern Lakes Fire Department/EMS, Rathdrum Police Department, Bell Tower Funeral Home, Holiday Inn Express in Hayden, Triple Play, Merwin's Towing, LifeFlight Network, LLC, and all the other individuals and businesses who played a role in this event. All individuals from these agencies and businesses volunteered their time to teach our children a valuable lesson, and we are grateful for them and their service to our whole community. Together you have made an impact on our students that will stay with them forever. Thank you for all you do for us at Lakeland High School time and time again!
