Charlotte 'Melonie' Mael, 71

Charlotte “Melonie” Mael, 71, passed away June 6, 2013, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. Melonie was born on May 23, 1942, in Marshall, Minn., to Marvin and Elsie (Smith) Larson.

At the age of 6 Melonie and her family moved to Avery where her dad worked in the woods. In 1959 she moved to Coeur d’Alene and met Edward Mael. On Oct. 26, 1963, they were married in Coeur d’Alene.

In 1965 Melonie and Ed moved to their farm in the Rathdrum area where they raised cattle. Melonie loved being around the cattle, ridding horses, gardening, sewing and always had lots of pets. She also loved teaching children about animals and was a 4-H leader for more than 30 years.

Melonie is survived by her husband, Ed; son Edward F. Mael and wife Jamie; granddaughter Jillian Mael; sister Verna “Pete” and brother Marvin.

As Melonie’s wishes no service will be held.
