Savor ice cream in a hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind bowl and support art programs for families living in transitional housing during Bowls on the Edge, a fundraiser taking place from noon to 4 p.m. on June 15 in downtown Coeur d'Alene.

Bowls on the Edge raises money to support pottery classes for children and adults living in St. Vincent de Paul's transitional housing and shelters in Coeur d'Alene. Every bowl in which ice cream is served was crafted by the Clay Arts Guild of North Idaho, North Idaho College Ceramics department, Clay Connection, a local potter, Coeur d'Alene School District students or Art on the Edge students.

Art on the Edge is a nonprofit art program St. Vincent de Paul provides to the community's youth.

It offers after-school art classes, summer workshops and camps, public arts and community festivals. The program provides a creative environment in which kids are able to learn problem-solving, goal-setting and community values and build their self-esteem.

Bowls on the Edge pairs local craftsmanship with a mouth-watering treat.

From noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, Bowls on the Edge will sell hand-crafted bowls filled with ice cream for $10 each from the southeast corner of Fifth Street and Lakeside Avenue in downtown Coeur d'Alene. Local artists will help with the sale, talk about their work and answer questions about Art on the Edge.

People who want to ensure bowls are available can buy tickets for Bowls on the Edge at Java On Sherman, 324 Sherman Ave., or The Long Ear, 2405 N. Fourth St. in Coeur d'Alene.
