CODE: Yes, it affects everyone
All residents of Kootenai County: Take notice. The new ULUC (unified land use codes) being proposed by our county commissioners is truly an exercise in futility!
And it is going to cost everyone in Kootenai County money, either in lost property values or taxes. I guess the icing on the cake will be the taking of our property rights as well.
Having studied this proposed code to some degree over the past few weeks, I feel very strongly about my previous statements.
Folks within the city limits thinking this will not affect them are wrong. I have discussed the ULUC with no fewer than five attorneys who all agree that there will be “LOTS” of lawsuits against the county regarding this document. City folks, that means your tax dollars will be used defending the commissioners’ decision to implement the new code.
Folks outside the city limits, this new code is for you! Better check the new zoning map and see if your property will be in conformance with the code or not. If your property is non-conforming do not expect your potential buyer to be able to get a loan on your property. And don’t even ask about what you cannot do on your own property. The much shorter answer will come from the question “What can I do on my property?”
Stand up and stop this nonsense NOW!
