COEUR d'ALENE - Kristopher Jackson had two hits, drove in two runs and scored two more as the Prairie Cardinals defeated the Spokane Blue Devils 10-5 on Saturday in their first game at the Border Wars tournament at Ramsey Park.

Jackson hit a two-run single to highlight a three-run sixth for Prairie (1-3).

"We've got a bunch of younger kids, and we're excited to see them stepping up and filling some roles," Prairie coach Dustin Frank said.

Derek Hansen, Jesse Marks, A.J. Walls and Austin Allen each had two hits for Prairie, which is scheduled to play the Spokane Northstars today at 10 a.m., followed by a game with the Blue Devils at 12:30 p.m.

COEUR d'ALENE - The Lums scored their first run at their new field at Travers Park, but are still seeking their first win there after dropping their third straight in the Border Wars tourney, and second to the Spokane Northstars.

In the bottom of the fourth - in their 18th inning at Ramsey - Devin Kluss singled, advanced to second on an overthrow at first, and scored the Lums' first run at Ramsey on a double to the gap in left-center field by Colton Gray. Gray eventually scored on a fielder's choice to tie the game at 2.

The Northstars, who beat Coeur d'Alene 3-0 on Friday in the inaugural game at Ramsey, scored once in the fifth and twice in the sixth.

With two outs, the Lums loaded the bases in the seventh on two walks and a hit batter. Kluss walked to score a run, but the next batter struck out, ending the game.

"The positives were, we've kept ourselves in every ballgame - one rally and we're back in," Coeur d'Alene coach Lloyd Duman said. "That is a positive. We have some more work at the plate to do. We talked about having quality at bats; that's our next step."

Coeur d'Alene (2-6) wraps up tourney play today with a 3:30 p.m. game at Ramsey vs. the Spokane Blue Devils.

* Earlier Saturday, the first home run at Ramsey Park was hit by Tyler Hamilton of Walla Walla, a solo shot vs. the Northstars.
