UI ranked as 'Best Value' by Forbes

| July 26, 2013 9:00 PM

The University of Idaho was ranked 25th in the newly released Forbes Magazine's list of "Best Value" colleges across the country.

The University of Idaho is one of only four universities in the western U.S. to make the list.

The other three are Wyoming, which ranked 11th, Bringham Young University, which ranked 15th, and University of South Dakota, which ranked 17th. High education quality and price are the two key factors taken into consideration for the "Best Value" rating by Forbes.

“Value is a product of quality and cost. The Forbes article is the latest evidence that the University of Idaho delivers quality education in a highly cost-effective way,” said UI Interim President Don Burnett.

For the “Top Colleges” list, Forbes looked at factors directly concerning incoming students and their parents, including quality of classes offered, on-time graduation rates, debt incurred and professional career rate upon graduation. Burnett said these are very important metrics, especially when value is a widely discussed topic for prospective students across the nation.

Earlier this month UI was rated number one in the state for the highest return on investment by Affordable Colleges Online, with a $730,400 ROI. Affordable Colleges Online evaluated schools based on tuition, fees and career earnings.
