VETERANS: Let us sin no more

| July 10, 2013 9:00 PM

Over the Fourth I was watching a commercial about a charity called “Wounded Warriors.” I remember thinking this is a charity I will send money to, but the more I thought about it the madder I got.

I don’t care what your stance on the wars is; the simple fact is our military went where our warmongering politicians sent them and our soldiers did their duty.

All the while their families back home were living on food stamps. But that is not the worst sin; most of these men and women had no idea if there would be a job or if they would be able to earn a living when they got home. And that is not the worst sin.

The worst sin is that thousands and thousands of wounded soldiers were and are unable to get the medical attention they more than earned, without relying on charity.

We play with fireworks, wave our little flags, play our petty politics, argue about religion, and pat ourselves on the back while allowing our defense industry-owned politicians to get away with this crime and a crime it is.

Before anyone screams it’s Obama’s fault, keep in mind that the ignoring of the wounded was in full swing during the Bush regime. If we must blame someone, the fault fully falls on us “the American citizens” for turning our backs and not demanding our so-called representatives do their job.

It’s time we kick the corporations and big money out of OUR government and take control again. I’m starting with letters to everyone who has an address, not email but letters. I know it’s not much but it’s a start.
