Voting options for March 12 levy elections

| January 30, 2013 8:22 AM

Voters have options on how to cast ballots for three levy elections this March, announced the Kootenai County clerk today.

Coeur d’Alene, Kootenai Joint and Post Falls school districts will each have supplemental maintenance and operations levy issues on the March 12 ballot.

"Voters residing in each of the respective school districts will be eligible to vote in this election," Clerk Cliff Hayes stated.

In-person voting will be available from February 25 through March 8 at the county Elections Office, 1808 N. Third St. in Coeur d’Alene.

The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Voters can also request absentee ballots be mailed to them.

The request form is available at www.kcgov.us/elections/AbsenteeBallotApplication.pdf. The form can be mailed or turned in to the Elections Office, faxed to 446-2184, or e-mailed to kcelections@kcgov.us.

Ballots must be requested no later than March 6.

There's still the good, old-fashioned option of voting at polling stations on election day.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on March 12. Precincts 1 - 7 and 10 - 12 will not be used, and other polling places have been changed.

Voters can confirm their polling stations at www.kcgov.us/elections/search.

Hayes encouraged voters to think ahead on casting ballots.

"Given the unpredictability of winter weather here, we encourage voters to plan ahead and choose the option best for them," Hayes stated.
