PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Daniels scores 19, but Vikings fall at Lewiston
LEWISTON - Sam Heitzman scored 18 points to lead the Lewiston Bengals past the Coeur d'Alene Vikings 54-47 in a 5A Inland Empire League game at Booth Hall on Tuesday.
Colby Daniels scored 19 points and Alijah Tripp added 14 for Coeur d'Alene (10-7, 2-3 5A IEL), which travels to Post Falls on Saturday.
Rafa Hewitt-Steiger scored 10 points for Lewiston (4-13, 1-3).

MOSCOW - Lakeland was outscored 14-0 in the first quarter, but the Hawks posted a rally over the final three quarters before falling to Moscow in 4A Inland Empire League play.
Lakeland's Alex Opland, who scored a game-high 14 points, had a chance to send the game into overtime, but his 3-pointer at the buzzer rimmed out.
"Moscow came out and played pretty good defense and had some easy baskets off turnovers," Lakeland assistant Bill Ryan said. "After halftime we did a better job of getting the ball to the basket and taking good shots.
"Our guys stuck with it really well. That's one thing with this team - you can always count on the guys playing hard."
Dane Randall scored a team-high 11 points for Moscow (10-4, 3-0), which clinced both the league title and top seed for the 4A Region 1 tournament.
Tyrel Derrick scored eight points and Troy Carr added six points, eight rebounds and five assists for Lakeland (7-10, 1-2), which plays at Priest River on Friday.

ST. MARIES - Trevor Masterson had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers in a nonleague win against the Lumberjacks.
"It was a hard-fought game," St. Maries coach John Bisson said. "It was almost a ditto of the game at their house (Timberlake won 53-48 on Dec. 15 in Spirit Lake). We jumped out early and they played well in the middle quarters. They're a really good team and we played hard against them."
Austin Linnemeyer had 16 points and six assists for St. Maries (10-5), which travels to Kellogg on Saturday for the "Brawl for the Ball" spirit games.
Austin Allen scored 14 points for Timberlake (13-2), which travels to Wallace on Friday.

TROY - Minus two starters, the visiting Knights nearly pulled off an upset of the Trojans, ranked fifth in 1A Division I.
But Cody Self, who finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds, hit a late 3 to help force overtime and Troy, which trailed by six points in the fourth quarter, went on to post the nonleague win.
"We stepped up in their place and played a great game," Lakeside coach Brad Calkins said. "It was probably our best all-around effort of the year."
Troy played without Brooks Malm, who scored 41 vs. Kellogg last Thursday.
Leighton Boyd scored 15 points and Joe Brown added 10 points and eight rebounds for Lakeside (6-10), which plays host to Mullan on Thursday.
