Nice to talk to you, doll
When I leave the 1080 ESPN studio after being on the air I listen to the Dennis Miller syndicated radio show on 920 AM as I head home. I love Dennis and have been a fan since his Saturday Night Live days. He was in rare form on Monday, with a kind of a stream of consciousness dialogue that was pretty entertaining. The number for calling in was announced and on a lark I dialed it. Got right through and the producer asked what I wanted to talk about. I said, "I want whatever Dennis is having today," and laughed.
I hadn't planned a question or comment so when Dennis himself came on and asked what was on my mind I blurted out, "today's the anniversary of the song 'We Are The World' being recorded in 1985."
LOL! My partner, Joe Paisley, and I had talked about that on Main Street Monday on the radio earlier in the morning. So Dennis and I talked about that momentous occasion in musical history and how all of those huge stars checked their egos at the door that day. Just a fun little conversation with one of my favorite comedians and now social/political pundit that was totally random. We had some laughs and then Dennis said, "nice to talk to you, doll."

Adventure isn't the exclusive domain of the young as I discovered when I said "yes" to Anne Mitchell of Triple L Talent last week. The adventure didn't involve climbing mountains or jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. I spent a few hours on set for the filming of a television commercial. No speaking part but I'd like to think I nailed the role of "woman in waiting room." As compensation was involved, technically I can now add professional actress to the resume`.
Feb. 1 is a milestone day for my oldest daughter Alyssa and me. She was born and I became a mother. There was a flu epidemic that year and only husbands/fathers were allowed to visit the maternity ward. My husband, Doug Perry, was at Army basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., so my dad brought me to the hospital when I went into labor.
After Alyssa was born of course Dad wanted to visit and I wanted the company. When the charge nurse at KMC told him that only husband/fathers were allowed he told her that he was the father. It became a lifelong family joke that he really didn't fib, he was my father and the nurse never asked specifically whose father he was and he was the father of the baby's mother.
Happy birthday Alyssa Lynne!
