Five ways to manage pain

Pain is a very common thing. You don't have to suffer. Here are five ways you can manage pain. Most of us face it in one way or another just about every day of our lives. Clearly, sometimes it is much more severe than others. You don't need to suffer. Proper physical therapy can teach you how to manage pain.

Now, chronic pain is a much different story. That is not something you should experience every day. If you find yourself with pain every day, here are five tips to fight it and become pain-free.

Start slow. When recovering from chronic pain, don't overdo the exercises too early. Start with low-impact activities such as walking, cycling or swimming. Also, avoid doing anything that causes pain.

Stay hydrated. Dehydration can cause result in injury, even death in the most extreme cases. Drinking plenty of water will keep your body functioning at its best.

Sleep. Ensure you get enough sleep. This is the time when your body heals itself. Not getting enough rest can leave your body vulnerable to injury and the pain that comes with it.

Don't be "tough." If you're hurt, stop doing what is causing you pain. It's a very simple idea, but there is this idea today that people should fight through pain, as if it's a sign of toughness. This idea usually ends poorly and with injuries and pain.
