5 pins boost Hawks past Badgers
RATHDRUM - The Lakeland Hawks won five matches by pin as they celebrated the 25th anniversary of the school's first state wrestling championship with a win over the Bonners Ferry Badgers on Tuesday at Hawk Court.
"I thought the kids wrestled tough," Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. "The kids wrestled hard and it was good because we had some of the old alumni back that were a part of that team - including me - and it was nice for them to be a part of it tonight."
Austin Hoobler (120 pounds), Brandon Yount (145), Jesse Putman (152), Karsen Walker (160) and Killian Estes (170) won for Lakeland, which faces Moscow and Sandpoint on Thursday in Sandpoint.
Lakeland (8-4) was also scheduled to wrestle Priest River, but the dual was canceled after the teams had already faced each other in the River City Duals.
