Upon requiring more care, she moved to Pendleton to be close to family for assistance.

Elaine was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene and attended regularly until she moved from the area. In addition to crocheting, she played the piano, loved music, flowers, dolls and traveling.

She was a generous and loving mother of three, grandmother of seven, great-grandmother of nine and a great-great-grandmother of three.

Elaine is survived by her three children, Judy Garner of American Falls, Neil Van de Mark of Rathdrum and Janet Keough of Pendleton; three siblings, Ellen Fey of Coeur d’Alene, Dolores Erickson of Queen Creek, Ariz., and Barbara Johnson of Everett, Wash. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Van de Mark; her second husband, Vernon Ruen; her grandson, Brent Van de Mark and her brother, Duane Van Schaack.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens.
