Lanigan helps Tigers edge Chiefs

SPOKANE - Cam Lanigan stopped 55 shots for the Medicine Hat Tigers, who edged the Spokane Chiefs 4-3 in Western Hockey League action in front of 7,910 at the Spokane Arena on Saturday night.

Todd Fiddler had two goals and an assist for Spokane - with his game-tying goal 8 seconds into the third period also tying a franchise record for fastest goal to start a period.

His first goal gave Spokane a 1-0 lead after the opening period.

Medicine Hat scored the game-winner on a power-play goal by Curtis Valk - his 29th goal of the year - 7:54 into the third period.

Spokane (30-18-2-0, 62 points) remains second in the U.S. Division by three points ahead of Tri-City.

Spokane travels to Kamloops on Friday at 7 p.m.
