UCLA uses fast start to win at No. 6 Arizona

Shabazz Muhammad scored 23 points, Jordan Adams added 15 and UCLA rode a dominating start to an 84-73 win over No. 6 Arizona on Thursday night at Tucson, Ariz.

The Pac-12's top scoring and shooting team, UCLA (16-4, 6-1) tried to turn Arizona's whiteout into a blowout, racing to a 16-point lead in the game's first seven minutes. Even when Arizona chipped away at the lead, bringing the all-in-white crowd at the McKale Center to life, the Bruins kept their composure to pick up a huge road win.

David Wear added 15 points and eight rebounds for UCLA.

Arizona (16-2, 4-12) got off to a miserable start at both ends and never fully recovered, pulling no closer than four points after digging a huge opening hole.

Colorado 75, Stanford 45: At Boulder, Colo., Andre Roberson scored 12 points and tied his career high with 20 rebounds, leading Colorado (13-6, 3-4) to a rout of Stanford (11-8, 2-4 Pac-12). It marked the Buffaloes' first win over the Cardinal in 22 years.

Askia Booker scored 13 points, including eight straight late in the second half after the Cardinal had trimmed an 18-point deficit to eight.

Arizona State 98, Southern California 93, OT: At Tempe, Ariz., Jahii Carson had 21 points and eight assists as Arizona State (15-4, 4-2 Pac-12) held off the Trojans (8-12, 3-4).

Arizona State led 82-76 with 26.8 seconds left but J.T. Terrell hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Jio Fontan hit an off-balance 3-pointer from 25 feet with 0.4 seconds remaining to force overtime.

California 62, Utah 57: At Salt Lake City, Allen Crabbe scored 23 points, including four 3-pointers, and California defeated Utah.

Cal (11-7, 3-3 Pac-12) led by as many as 15 points midway through the second half, but the Utes (9-10, 1-6) pulled within 58-55 on Jason Washburn's 3-pointer with 55 seconds remaining.

Texas-Arlington 74, Utah State 68: At Logan, Utah, Karol Gruszecki came off the bench to score a team-high 14 points and the Mavericks (9-8, 4-4 Western Athletic Conference) beat Utah State (14-4, 5-3).

Texas-San Antonio 78, Seattle U 75: At Seattle, Michael Hale III had 35 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals to lead UTSA (5-13, 1-7) past the Redhawks (6-12, 1-7 WAC).

The former North Idaho College standout out hit 9 of 18 shots from the field and made 16 of 17 free throws.

Louisiana Tech 76, San Jose State 54: At San Jose, Calif., Raheem Appleby scored 17 points and the Bulldogs (17-3, 8-0 WAC) beat the Spartans (9-10, 3-5).

Pepperdine 60, Loyola Marymount 57: At Los Angeles, Jordan Baker had 21 points and seven rebounds to lead the Waves (10-9, 2-4 West Coast Conference) past the Lions (8-12, 1-6).

San Francisco 75, Portland 72: At Portland, Ore., De'End Parker scored 16 points and Cole Dickerson added 15 to lift the Dons (9-11, 2-5 WCC) past the Pilots (8-13, 1-5).

Saint Mary's 81, San Diego 48: At Moraga, Calif., Beau Levesque came off the bench to score 20 points and the Gaels (16-4, 5-1 WCC) beat San Diego (11-10, 4-2).

Montana 70, Idaho State 51: At Missoula, Mont., Mathias Ward scored 21 points, Spencer Coleman came off the bench to add 20 and the Grizzlies (13-4, 9-0 Big Sky) beat the Bengals (4-14, 3-6).

Montana State 79, Weber State 74: At Bozeman, Mont., Antonio Biglow and Xavier Blount scored 18 points apiece to lead the Bobcats (8-9, 5-4 Big Sky) past Weber State (13-4, 8-1).

No. 2 Michigan 68, Purdue 53: At Ann Arbor, Mich., Trey Burke had 15 points and eight assists and gave Michigan a boost on defense, helping the Wolverines shake free of Purdue in the second half.

The Wolverines (18-1, 5-1 Big Ten) trailed by seven in the first half, but Purdue (10-9, 3-3) couldn't keep up its torrid outside shooting. Terone Johnson scored 14 points for the Boilermakers.

Richmond 86, No. 19 Virginia Commonwealth 74, OT: At Richmond, Va., Kendall Anthony scored 21 of his 26 points after halftime and Darien Brothers hit two huge 3-pointers as Richmond ended VCU's 13-game winning streak.

Brothers had 18 points and Cedrick Lindsay 13 as the Spiders (13-7, 3-2 Atlantic 10) won for only the second time in their last nine meetings with the Rams (16-4, 4-1). Richmond hit 12 3-pointers with Anthony making five and Brothers four, including one with 1.5 seconds left in regulation to force the overtime, and another to clinch it with 1:35 to play in OT.

No. 23 Mississippi 62, Tennessee 56: At Oxford, Miss., Marshall Henderson scored 28 points, hitting six 3-pointers in the second half, and Mississippi rallied past Tennessee (9-8, 1-4).

Henderson is the Southeastern Conference's leading scorer with 18.9 points per game and he put on a show after the break, nearly single-handedly carrying the Rebels (16-2, 5-0) to their eighth consecutive victory. He scored 32 against the Volunteers just two weeks ago in a win in Knoxville.
