GUNS: No time to feel truly safe
My sincerest congratulations to Dennis Edelbrock for authoring a letter that I wish I had written: (Guns: Heed history’s lessons; Friday 1-18-13). His points are so well presented that it is hard to consider trying to improve upon them. The real question he presents is: “Would the federal government ever choose to attack defenseless American citizens while they occupy their own private property?”
Unfortunately, the Wounded Knee incident is a little “too-long-ago” and “too far away” to capture the attention of many in today’s society. So please allow me to call to remembrance two much more recent and well-publicized ‘incidents’ — one of which took place a bit more than 50 miles from here.
Is it difficult to remember the names “Ruby Ridge” and “Waco”? The common link between them is the fact that federal agents attacked and killed American citizens on their own property. And the weapons of choice for these agents? You guessed it! Assault rifles, semi-automatic pistols and (if these were not bad enough) tanks and helicopters as well.
Now do you feel safer knowing that the feds always abide by the Constitution?
