Richard Baker, 81

Richard Raymond Baker, 81, of Coeur d’Alene, passed away Jan. 21, 2013, in Coeur d’Alene. He was born April 8, 1931, in Cambridge, Md., to Raymond L. and Myra A. (Stuart) Baker.

Richard served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War and later in the Seabee Reserves. On Sept. 11, 1971, he married Nancy Copple in Hollywood, Calif. He worked as an electrician for the LA Times.

Richard and Nancy moved to Coeur d’Alene after retiring in 1992. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had attended both the Hayden 3rd and the Dalton Gardens Ward. Richard had been very active in the American Legion Post in Coeur d’Alene.

Survivors include his wife Nancy, at home, sons; Bill & Janet Baker of San Diego, CA, David & Mandy Baker of Port Hueneme, CA, Shawn Baker of Coeur d'Alene, daughters; Daisy Marie, Gretchen, Cindy, Kathleen, also; Cheryl & Michael Valley of Coeur d'Alene, Cathy Willey of Las Vegas, NV, Colleen Willey of Southern California, Karen Zimmerman of Coeur d'Alene and numerous grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Mary Lou Ayers.

Graveside services will be held Friday Jan. 25, 2013, at 9:30am at Forest Cemetery, Coeur d'Alene. English Funeral Chapel in care of the arrangements.
