Four Cardinals triumph at Clackamas Open
OREGON CITY, Ore. - Brock Banta (125 pounds), Mikey Rodriguez (133), Jeremy Golding (149) and V.J. Giulio (197) each won titles for North Idaho College at the Clackamas Open wrestling tournament Sunday.
Golding defeated NIC teammate Kyle Godinho 5-3 in the final at 149.
Caleb Rivera (184) also finished second for the Cardinals, Nico Moreno (157) was third, Kyle Sweedman (174) fourth.
"A couple guys ran out of steam and that's be expected after a long weekend," NIC coach Pat Whitcomb. "But, probably placing more guys than we've ever had in this tournament, I was pleased with that."
Jake Mason (165) tweaked his knee on Friday vs. Southwestern Oregon, and was held out Saturday and Sunday as a precaution, Whitcomb said. Mason is expected to be examined this week.
NIC competes at the Northwest Duals on Friday and Saturday in Powell, Wyo.
